Raw Rap

I Wrote This Song Immediately After Leaving Court One Day. I Had A Beat From Kingpin Da Composer That Really Resonated With Me. It Was A Beat That Without Words, Told A Story. I Had Already Written 2 Songs To It, But Lost Both Of Them In The Process Of Breaking My Phone. I Honestly Think It Was Meant To Be That Way. When I Spoke The First Words “Hands Up, On My Knees, Don’t Speak, Don’t Resist” I Immediately Burst Into Tears. I Felt The Spirit Of Treyvon Martin, Sandra Bland, And Philando Castille Consume Me And I Knew I Had To Release What Was On My Mind.

Heartfelt Poetry

I Was Asked By Sublime Sunshine If I Was Available To Be Part Of Her Show. The Show Was Called “Be Vocal”. It Was A Show On Mental Health Awareness. In This Show The Artist Would Perform 3 Pieces. At The Time Leading Up To The Show I Was Very Busy Touring And In My Freetime It Was Important That I Rested. I Ended Up Writing 1 Full Piece 2 Weeks Before The Show, And Only Had Bits And Pieces On Another. I Ended Up Making A Decision To Only Perform One New Piece And 2 Prewritten Pieces. 5 Days Out From The Show I Witnessed A Form Of Bullying That Swoops Under The Radar. I Had Witnessed Tough Love. The Next Day As I Awakened And Went To Shower, I Just Heard A Voice In My Head Say Tough Love Ain’t For Everybody. My Blood Immediately Got To Pumpin As I Brought My Phone In The Shower With Me And Wrote. I Took My Phone To The Car With Me And Wrote. I Got To The Millionaire Grind Shop And Wrote. By The End Of My Shift I Had A Masterpiece. Crazy Thing About This Piece Was That I Was Afraid To Read Over What I Had Wrote Until I Got Home In My Own Space. I Read It And I Read It Aloud As The Tears Poured Down My Face. With The Emotion That This Piece Contained, I Knew I Had To Perform It At Be Vocal. Every Chance I Got For The Remainder Of ThT Week I Struggled To Learn It, I Finally Got It Good Enough To Perform When I Got To The Show.

Poetry & Bone

When People Hear Me On The Trombone, They Often Immediately Put Me In A Box. They Assume That The Trombone Represents Who I Am. When They Hear That I’m Going To Rap, They Usually Are Never Ready For The Great Vocal Delivery And The Huge Emotional Surge Of Energy That I Provide When I Put Them Both Together. I Always Feel That I Have A Point To Prove When I Speak. In This Video I Told A Metaphoric Story Of Triumphs Played Trombone, Then I Broke The Beat Down, Spoke My Truth With Exuberance And Went Colossal On The Trombone.

Parking Lot Rhymes

It’s Very Often That Suavo Has Ideas While Driving. In Those Times He Often Finds Himself Pulling Off Of The Road And Into A Parking Lot, Where He Would Quickly Write His Thought Down And Create A Video For It, Thus Sparking What He Likes To Call “Parking Lot Rhymes”
